Maggie understands the unique struggles and concerns that can arise for executives, leaders, professional creatives, and those in the public eye. She helps clients discover ways to cope with these stressors in a way that fits their lifestyle. As an alternative to a traditional therapy setting, Maggie can develop creative on-site intensive work with a team of professionals to facilitate focused, rapid transformation.

Her extensive background and training in therapeutic modalities allow her to create an individualized plan tailored to fit her client's needs, specific goals, and lifestyles. She specializes in working with individuals, couples, families, and adolescents dealing with trauma, mood disorders, anxiety, personality disorders, and compulsive behaviors such as substance use or addictive behavior in relationships. She helps her patients identify the origin of trauma and the resulting patterns that can show up in life. She is also experienced in crisis intervention and intensive therapy for those needing immediate or time-sensitive results.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Before joining the Parallels Consulting Team, Maggie was the Clinical Supervisor and Primary Therapist at Caron Ocean Drive and was a Family Therapist at Caron as well. Prior to that, she was in private practice, treating individuals and family systems with a complex combination of chemical dependency or process addiction, trauma history, mood disorders, and personality disorders.

Her other professional experience includes being the supervisor for an in-home family services program, lead therapist at a substance abuse treatment facility, and primary therapist for a mental health facility. In addition, she has spoken on mental health topics at several universities and was featured as an expert on co-parenting on a television show.

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a psychotherapy technique designed to alleviate distress from traumatic memories. Through guided eye movements, it helps reprocess traumatic experiences, promoting healing and emotional well-being.

  • This evidence-based therapeutic tool is designed to reset the nervous system and return it to safety. A music-based intervention, it addresses dysregulation caused by Sensory Processing Disorders, anxiety disorders, post-traumatic stress disorders, sleep disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorders, misophonia, and other emotional states.  SSP promotes calming and grounding, fostering improved communication and emotional well-being.

  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) is an evidence-based therapeutic approach that views the mind as a collection of distinct sub-personalities or 'parts'. By accessing and understanding these 'parts', IFS promotes healing, self-awareness, and a harmonious inner relationship.

  • An evidenced-based therapeutic intervention that reduces the disturbance associated with traumatic or other distressing memories. FT is a minimally intrusive option that does not require the client to consciously engage with the traumatic memory. This allows a person to to process these memories without feeling distress.

TRAINING & BACKGROUND

Maggie has been a licensed clinical social worker for over 18 years. As a qualified supervisor, she has provided clinical supervision for doctoral candidates and people seeking licensure. She is EMDR trained, certified as a provider of Safe and Sound protocol, and has had training in DBT and trauma.  She can also employ Internal Family Systems, experiential exercises, and narrative therapy in addition to talk therapy when it is indicated.

She earned her master's degree in clinical social work from Radford University.
